Instagram is expanding functionality within direct messages by introducing new Instagram DMs features such as message editing and playful stickers. 

Similar to the editing features already in place for Instagram Stories, users will be able to draw on photos or place stickers on them before sending them through a DM. The firm also mentioned that users can create custom stickers using pictures already available to them and incorporate those stickers in DMs. All in all, the photograph editing capabilities in chats are becoming more advanced to resemble those of Stories.
